Season 3, ep. 3, Locke eats a peach, does his hair

Whoa. A seriously trippy, weird ep. Loved the way the Locke sweatlodge scene was filmed. And speaking of which ...
so Boone says Locke has to clean up his own mess (apparently the rescue of Eko) before he can "bring the family back together." On first blush, I think "the family" is our scattered Lostaways - a family in Locke's mind? On second blush, could Boone/the Island be referring to the scattered groups of Others? Maybe the Losties' fated role involves getting the Others back on track with the Dharma Initiative and thus saving mankind?
The Locke flashbacks I took as an illustration of the lengths Locke will go (planning to, though not acrtually going through with the murder of a cop) in order to protect/serve his group. Of course, he didn't pull the trigger because he was at heart a Farmer. But that brief talk with Eko said he was a Hunter. Has he changed? Can we expect Locke to now kill without hesitation if need be?
(side note - the physical resemblance of Mike the pot grower to Zeke is kinda interesting. Being such a detail oriented show, I tend to doubt it's coincidence)
'Twas interesting Eko used that very terminology, 'hunter' - a significant word in this ep. I wonder if Eko really did say that, or if it was part of Locke's earlier hallucination in the sweatlodge. Or if that was some kind of manifestation of some weird power - telepathy? - that Eko now is manifesting after the hatch blew.
Becuase it seems like something weird is going on with Desmond, some kind of knowledge of the future, that's for sure, after his run-in in the jungle with Hurley and seeming to knwo what Locke was going to say later. Thoughts - Desmond got some kind of precog power from the explosion (which could be a jump the shark moment). Desmond has always had some kind of ability to see in the future (he knew Jack would cure his wife, he knew he'd see Jack at some point down the road "in anudder life, brudah"). Something happened to Eko, Locke, Desmond in the hatch explosion - maybe thrown outside of the timestream for the day they were missing? (another very possible jump the shark notion).
Finally, the island vibrates, peopel are missing for a day, and no one from the beach contingent of Losties goes to check the hatch and see what's up? I cannot decide if this is an importatn bit of info or just a hiccup in the writing of a complex, layered weekly drama.

Dave's weird obscure Lost nugget of the day: (from some guy on the web) ---Geronimo Jackson

Geronimo Jackson is a band, whose album is found by Charlie and Hurley in the Swan during the episode The Hunting Party. Charlie “as an expert in all things musical” says that he has never heard of them.

In re Locke: The undercover cop is an explanation for why Locke took Boone under his wing. He wants to be a father figure to some one because he never had a good one. That's why he fell for the cop, and since he f-ed that up, why he wanted to take Boone under his wing. Of course, he f-ed that up too. So I think Locke's real mission is to try to be a dad/leader. Can this mission to save "our friends and bring them home" be the chance for him to finally stop f-ing up, be his own man, and lead? We shall see.

I think the eletromagnetic event had some weird repercussions for space and time, and that's why Desmond may have "seen" Locke's speech before it happened. It also may explain why the polar bear hadn't turned Eko into lunch yet. Like Daneman, I'm worried we're about to go all X-Men here. The writers are treading a thin, thin line.

Daneman: You've lost me on the shark thing...what??!?!

Do we want them all to have special powers? I'm not sure about the special powers thing. The Desmond "Locke's speech" thing was weird, but a little obvious. I'm not one to buy into the "obvious" on the show. Obvious being that they'd get special powers from being in the hatch when the electromagnetic whosiwhat went off. Like I said last week about the Others and Sun, or was it just Sun. Eh, wouldn't it be obvious if she killed her lover, regretted it, blah, blah, blah. Why would she kill her lover?

I digress...I agree with the whole Locke needs to father someone thing, BUT you'd think eventually he'd give up on trusting people or nurturing or letting people get too close or whatever wouldn't you? He keeps F-ing up, try something new dude! The old stuff isn't working... Hello!!!

Yo...what's with the polar bears? Can someone find out what type of climates polar bears can live in. And better yet if any other bears are white? A friend I was watching with last night said polar bear fur is actually clear, implying "that's not a polar bear." But I'm thinking, it's a tuft of fur, like on their body, it's a whole buncha hair, so it'd look white, as opposed to a single strand, which may very well be clear. I think he's thinking too hard about the damn bear. Did that make sense?

Maeleeke--- You're on to something now that I think about it... the Locke that's going after Jack et al may be the "new" locke, finally willing to change his ways and trust people for the right reasons. And maybe kill some one.

Your friend is thinking too hard about the damn bear.

See, I wonder that as well, if this week's ep was supposed to introduce to us a 'new' Locke.

Not to harp on the whole Jin/Sun thing, but here's why she could've been motivated to kill Jae - she realizes Dad has sent Jin to kill Jae. Jin doesn't know why, but she sure does cuz she's a dirty dirty slut (mmmm...). If she suspects/fears Jin won't follow through on that, she knows Dad will do something harsh to Jin. Maybe even kill him. So she follows, she sees Jin doesn't seal the deal, Jin leaves the highrise, she goes in, maybe lures the guy to the balcony, and shoooove.

Sun/Jin:

I can't remember....did we hear Jae scream as he fell? A scream would indicate he was pushed, right? No scream would indicate suicide/ already dead and thrown off the ledge.

Right?

Orrrr....Sun killed Jae so her dad would think that Jin killed Jae and therefor the family "technically" wouldn't be disrespected by her dirty whore self any more than it already was? Dunno.

Screaming on the way down: No, I don't remember hearing anything. (Devil's advocate) BUT, I dunno, you could not scream out of surprise just as you'd scream out of fear I suppose. Maybe. I don't always scream on roller coaster, but then again I'm not really thinking I'm gonna die.

Maybe we'll see something tonight. I'm merely avoiding work when I should be getting ahead in order to put things off on Thursday.
