Every Man for Himself

Sorry, folks, you're on your own this week. Thursday I am flying to Calif. for a couple days of much needed vacation from the trials and tribulations of running this blog. Oh, and work.
Couple thoughts from last week - apparently the opening scenes with Locke in the jungle were a scene-for-scene exact parallel of the opening scenes of Jack in season one ep. one. (focus on one eye, camera pulls back, lying in jungle, sits up, sees Vincent/Desmond running by). Is Locke the 'new Jack' - i.e. the defacto leader and protagonist since Jack is captured (and maybe being turned by the Others)? Who can say.
Also - was it noteworthy that in the airport vision of Locke's that Jack was being screened by Benry? And that Benry, Hurley and Desmond were all in airline uniforms while everyone else was in street clothes? am beginning to wonder if this ep. was not about plot advancement but about symbolic foreshadowing. Either way too much is being read into Lost or it could actually be one of the most inventive and layered shows on TV today, next to that one with Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer.
Get lost.

So good of Daneman to advance things for us before he galavanted off to Cali. (*singing* I'm going back to Cali., Cali, Cali. I'm going back to Cali...")

Sorry I miss Cali. So last night's episode wasn't the best for me. Im really annoyed that someone (meida, producers or whomever) played up the "Kate will declare her love for Jack or Sawyer and there will be a passionate kiss." Declaring your love doesn't include saying it so someone will stop beating the crap out of someone. Though, in usual Lost fashion, you wonder if she really meant it even though she denied it cause she climbed back in the cage (like a moron) and said "Live together. Die Alone." What was with all the illustrative one liners last night anyway?

So Benry's got a tumor. Hmm. Interesting. Let's guess...was he experimented on by the Darhma folks? Or is there some radioactive something-or-other on the island?

Did anyone understand Desmond's lightning rod? Is that what that was? I was programming my DVR so the screen was too small for me to really see what was going on.

That's all I can think of for now, I'll be back later to see what you all have said.

I've heard from the official Lost podcast (fine, I'm a big nerd, but so are you for reading this), the producers of Lost have no part in making the episode teasers - that it's ABC that trumps up things like 'kate and Sawyer kiss.' So from now on, maybe take those ads with a grain of salt.
Thought it was really interesting that we finally got a sense of why the Others wanted Jack - for his mad surgery skillz. So now the next question is, why do they want Sawyer and kate? What skills do they have?
"We live together or die alone" is something Jack actually said many eps. ago.
OK, so Desmond has some kind of insight into the future. is it from the hatch explosion thing? from something else? It seems there might be some kind of supernatural connection between Desmond, Locke and Eko - Locke and Eko having that conversation in the jungle when Eko called Locke 'a hunter.' Maybe Eko and Locke also ahve superpowers? And there will be a Heroes crossover?
And then my other favorite show, House, will get involved? And I'll marry a supermodel?

I'm late to the game because I was at the Barenaked Ladies concert and only saw the episode online on Sunday, but I liked the Of Mice and Men tie in.

Jack definitely isn't being held to deal with Benry's tumor. It may not even be Benry's.
So we now know why The Others can seem to disappear, they have their own island to retreat too.

This all lends credence to the whole psychological experiement gone bad theory, I think, but still doesn't get us any explaination as to why Benry has lived there his whole life.
Unless.... he's the result of some sort of experiment, and the tumor is a consequence of his existence.

I just want them to answer some damn questions. And what the hell happened to those guys in the fucking artic at the end of last year?
